KVK Jalandhar Conducts Training on Soil Health Portal Registration & Soil Sampling Techniques for PM SHRI School Teachers
Krishi Vigyan Kendra Jalandhar successfully organized a one-day training programme on Registration for the Soil Health Portal and Soil Sampling & Testing Techniques for teachers and principals of PM SHRI Schools at its campus.
The programme aimed to strengthen awareness and technical knowledge among educators regarding soil health management and scientific soil testing procedures, thereby encouraging integration of practical agricultural education at the school level.
During the technical sessions:
• Dr. Kanchan Sandhu, Associate Professor (Home Science) delivered a lecture emphasizing the importance of soil health in ensuring nutritional security, environmental sustainability, and its linkage with food systems.
• Dr. Prabhjit Kaur, Assistant Professor (Agronomy) elaborated on scientific soil management practices, balanced nutrient application, and the significance of accurate soil testing for improving crop productivity.
• Mrs. Rachna Garg, Programme Assistant (Lab Technician) conducted practical demonstrations on soil sampling and soil testing techniques. She provided step-by-step guidance on selecting representative fields, correct sampling depth, proper collection methods, labeling, handling, and preparation of soil samples for laboratory analysis.
Participants were also guided through the registration process on the Soil Health Portal, enabling schools to actively participate in soil health monitoring initiatives and promote experiential learning among students.
The programme concluded with an interactive discussion session where teachers and principals shared their queries and discussed ways to implement soil health awareness activities in their respective institutions.
KVK Jalandhar reaffirmed its commitment to capacity building of educators and promoting scientific awareness to strengthen sustainable agricultural practices and environmental stewardship among the younger generation.
